Í fréttatilkynningu frá æðsta dómstól Úkraínu er vitnað í ummæli varaforseta Feneyjanefndar í Georgíu í síðustu viku um mikilvægi þess dómarar séu sjálfstæðir í störfum sínum en stjórnvöld þar hafa setið undir ámæli um að beita dómstólinn pólitískum þrýstingi:
Vice-President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe Ms Herdis Kjerulf Thorgeirsdottir noted that the unequivocal position of the Venice Commission is that judges should be independent in their activities, as the Constitutional Court is the highest court of the country and is the guarantor of human rights and protection of the Constitution of Georgia and its citizens.
